HEADS Invited talk at Fortiss
Franck Fleurey, the Technical Manager of the HEADS project, gave an invited talk at Fortiss, which was held on 11th December 2014, in Munich. His talk on "ThingML: A Modelling Language for the Internet of Things" focused on ThingML, a modelling language developed by SINTEF for building applications and services meant to run highly heterogeneous infrastructures. Typical target infrastructures for Internet of Things applications include devices ranging all the way from microcontroller based sensors and actuators to cloud-based servers. This range is too wide to be covered by any single execution middleware or programming environment. The infrastructure typically also include large amount of legacy, standards and existing APIs which are not easily ported to a single software platform. The ThingML language provides a platform independent modelling environment and a set of code generators which allows combining the strengths of heterogeneous hardware and software platforms. ThingML is developed as an open-source project.
